Dr. Troxell will discuss if a tissue biopsy is appropriate based on appraisal of symptoms and patient medical history. While the mouth can host a wide spectrum of potential diseases, Dr. Troxell keeps your overall health foremost in treatment and pursues biopsies for early detection of certain oral diseases. During a biopsy, a sample of soft tissue or bone is removed and sent to a lab for interpretation and diagnosis.
Dr. Troxell performs biopsies on premises and explains lab reports to patients at follow-up visits. Patients are welcome to ask questions, as Dr. Troxell discusses the diagnosis. The more information a patient has about an oral health problem and procedures involved to care for it, the more comfortable they are with treatment. Education is an important part of the care patients receive at our oral surgical facility in Fort Collins.
